在2017年，Gibson Custom 也為了致敬這段傳奇歷史，推出了復刻款 “2017 1959 Les Paul True Historic Murphy Painted 1994 Killer Top”。這款紀念型號一推出，便使原版1994 Murphy Painted 的市場價值再度攀升。近年在歐美市場上，甚至有成交價格逼近新台幣百萬元的紀錄，可見其在 Gibson Custom Reissue 系列中的歷史地位與收藏價值。

琴身為桃花心木，搭配虎紋楓木面板、玫瑰木指板，琴頸為 ’59 Neck Profile，原廠搭載一組 ’57 Classic 拾音器。全琴零件皆為原廠配置，無任何改動。整體保存狀況約九成新，僅有些許使用痕跡，琴背有些微磨損痕跡，琴頭略有敲痕，但以三十二年琴齡而言，整體保存極佳，Fret 幾乎無明顯磨損。

This 1994 Gibson 1959 Les Paul Reissue is one of the very first 200 guitars in the world finished by the legendary Tom Murphy himself, bearing the serial number 9-4124. Featuring a 5A-grade killer flame top, it stands as one of the most representative and visually stunning creations from the Gibson Custom Shop in the 1990s.

Not only is this an iconic vintage instrument from the early years of the Gibson Custom Shop, but it also belongs to the very first batch of Tom Murphy Painted Les Paul Reissues ever released to the public. The initial 1994 run, with serial numbers ranging from 9-4001 to 9-4200, was entirely hand-finished by Tom Murphy. His distinctive lacquer work is instantly recognizable “Murphy Painted” guitars possess a unique tone and vintage character that set them apart. Moreover, the flame maple tops used on 1990s Les Paul Reissues came from different sources than today’s, displaying distinct grain movement and sharper figure definition that capture the unmistakable aesthetics of that era.

In 2017, Gibson Custom paid tribute to this legendary milestone by introducing the “2017 1959 Les Paul True Historic Murphy Painted 1994 Killer Top”, a faithful recreation of these early masterpieces. Following its release, the original 1994 Murphy Painted Les Pauls experienced a significant rise in market value, a testament to their historical importance and enduring desirability within the Gibson Custom Reissue lineage.

This guitar features a mahogany body, flame maple top, and rosewood fingerboard, with a ’59 neck profile and factory-installed ’57 Classic pickups. All parts remain original with no modifications. Overall condition is approximately 9/10, showing only light playwear: minor surface marks on the back and small dings on the headstock. Considering its 32-year age, the instrument has been remarkably well-preserved, with frets showing almost no noticeable wear.

Les Paul Reissues from the 1990s have become increasingly rare on the market, and among them, the 1994 Tom Murphy Painted “First 200” guitars are considered truly legendary. The combination of Tom Murphy’s iconic craftsmanship and this extraordinary killer-top maple makes this instrument a highly collectible and historically significant piece for any serious Gibson aficionado.
