2004 年底，Michael Schenker 正式與 Dean Guitars 合作，推出第一代限量 100 把的 Dean USA Michael Schenker Retro Flying V，短短四天銷售一空，這也讓 Michael 成為 Dean 當時最重要的 USA Signature Artist 之一。而 2013年 Dean 再次推出了數量只有 50 把的 Retro 高階版本。並在琴頭後方有著 Michael Schenker 本人的親筆簽名。桃花心木琴身與琴頸，搭配黑檀木指板。原廠配置一組 USA DMT Schenker Lights Out 拾音器，以及高穩定性的 Grover 弦鈕。
而 Gibson 直到 2025 年才正式與 Michael Schenker 合作，推出了黑白 Flyng V 的復刻版本。2019 年時，Gibson 起訴了 Dean，導致 Dean 在這之後已禁止生產任何 V 型吉他，這也使過去所有 Dean Michael Schenker Flying V 型吉他在市場上收藏價值都變得更高。

Limited to just 50 pieces worldwide, this Dean USA Michael Schenker Retro Flying V is a faithful tribute to Michael Schenker’s iconic black-and-white Gibson Flying V. Michael Schenker is a legendary German guitarist, best known for his influential work with Scorpions, UFO, and the Michael Schenker Group (MSG). His black-and-white Flying V has become one of the most recognizable visual symbols in rock guitar history. Dean was the first brand to establish a long-term partnership with him and develop this iconic look into a complete signature guitar series.
Michael Schenker’s story with the Flying V actually began with his older brother, Rudolf Schenker, a founding member of Scorpions. Rudolf owned a 1971 Gibson Flying V with a rather unusual history. Originally finished in Cherry Red, the guitar was later refinished in the now-iconic black-and-white color scheme. Michael was fascinated by this distinctive guitar design, and one day, when a string broke on his Les Paul during a performance, he borrowed his brother’s Flying V. What began as an unexpected replacement turned out to be the beginning of a lifelong relationship with an instrument that would become synonymous with his musical career.
Michael went on to use this guitar to record UFO’s first three albums. Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, his performances helped establish the black-and-white Flying V as an enduring source of inspiration for countless hard rock and heavy metal guitarists.
In late 2004, Michael Schenker officially partnered with Dean Guitars to launch the first-generation Dean USA Michael Schenker Retro Flying V, limited to just 100 pieces. The entire run sold out in only four days, establishing Michael as one of Dean’s most important USA signature artists at the time.
In 2013, Dean released another high-end Retro edition, this time limited to only 50 pieces worldwide. This particular guitar features Michael Schenker’s authentic handwritten signature on the back of the headstock. Its specifications include a mahogany body and neck, an ebony fingerboard, a set of USA DMT Schenker Lights Out pickups, and highly reliable Grover tuning machines.
It was not until 2025 that Gibson officially collaborated with Michael Schenker to release its own reissue of the iconic black-and-white Flying V. Following Gibson’s 2019 lawsuit against Dean, Dean is now prohibited from manufacturing the specific V-shaped models covered by the court injunction. This has further reinforced the historical significance and collectibility of previously produced Dean Michael Schenker Flying V models.
